How It Works
The Bird Buffer controls flying birds in open spaces by dispensing an invisible haze from a safe, liquid compound called Methyl Anthranilate. The MA (trade name Rejex-it®) irritates their eyes and mucous membranes without risk to their health. As birds fly through the timed release of invisible haze, they become uncomfortable and disoriented. It has been proven to be a very effective form of bird control.
Non-invasive Distribution
The Bird Buffer is programmed to run when needed (generally a few hours in the morning and late afternoon, when the birds are flying). The haze is invisible and it will not interfere with business operations. Bird Buffer plugs into standard 110VAC. In most applications it needs to be re-filled every one to two weeks. It creates a fine aerosol (called nano-particles), which is released at 90mph. The particles are so small they never actually settle; therefore there is no residue. All that people notice is a slight sweet grape aroma. |
Coverage
For open space in and around structures one Bird Buffer will provide enough haze to cover up to the size of a football field (120 yards x 53 yards) or building with partially open areas for bird escape. For open outdoor areas the Bird Buffer will cover up to 5 acres when placed with wind or air assistance.
What to Expect
Birds will only be affected while flying through the haze, and only by repeated exposure over time. Typically some reduction can be noticed in the first week, and final results may take up to six weeks. Bird Buffers are installed on a permanent basis. Bird Buffer is best contemplated when the problem is a number of birds in the area in random places. If specific perches or nesting areas are evident those areas may need to be cleaned and protected with mechanical deterrents. Bird Buffer s effectiveness will be impacted by wind direction; great care must be taken to insure that the unit is installed upwind of the problem area, and it may need to be moved from time to time. |
